June 28th 2007

Well it's been one week now since i've been on my own. But before i was by my lonesome, i went on a short trip with mark and my friends mathew and brandon to a place called lake wildwood. It is near Yuba City. These are pictures of the lake that we spent most of our time at.
After Lake wildwood i drove to Santa Cruz to look at Cabrillo College. I didn't feel like paying 40 for the camping there so i parked on the side of the streat. It was next to a Camper/ RV place, and the owner said i could sleep there. I slept in this place for two nights

Then i decided to try to get to eureka in two days of driving. So i started heading up the coast on highway 1. I did not anticipate how slow the drive was going to be, but it was a beautiful drive and i didn't mind.

I landed at i think it's called Point Reyes National Park or something like that. Anyways they didn't have any spots available so they said to go to the Hostel which was right there. They also didn't have spots available. So i asked a ranger where i could sleep for the night and he said to go to Samuel P. Taylor National Park (I think that's what it's called). They where full also =). But i learned something quite useful. Perhaps not all National Parks, but at least this one, have a reserve camping area for people like me who couldn't get into the regular camping area and have no where to sleep. I still had to pay 20 bucks to sleep there and i had to camp in the picnic area... and be out by 9 in the morning. It didn't matter to me, i was excited to have a place to sleep. Just about all i did before turning in was take a few pictures:

The next night i stayed in the Hostel Because i wanted to stay in that area and sort of hike around. However, i had this huge allergy attack that day and was incapacitated. Tears were litterally streaming out of my right eye, and i was sneazing up a storm. And yes dad, i did take alivert. And no i'm not going to take it every day "cause it builds up"... i'm doing fine now and don't need to =). I don't have any pictures of that place but it was pretty neet. I met a few cool people and it was fun.
I next headed north again and stopped for the night in Fort Bragg. The lady at the Chamber of Commerce said that there was a free camp site a little ways a way. It turned out to be quite amazing and 100% free, which is even more amazing.

I stayed there two nights and then drove to Eureka, where i am now. I Fixed up my car windows so that they wouldn't leak into the camper shell, and now i'm at College of the Redwoods to use the computor.
I know the post didn't have any juicy details or personal thoughts on things... but i didn't feel like taking a long time on this. So tis just the basics of what has happened.
I might or might not post again (everything about my future is uncertain) so don't check too often =)

Mike, you must keep posting. I kept a blog of a trip I took and stopped posting when I thought no one was reading (because they weren't posting). But they were reading. Reading as if their lives depended on it. And, as it turned out, some of their lives did depend on it ...

A Woman Who LIVED tha...

Yes Mike, my life does depend on your posts. Again, the wit of our good friend Kirk. So I am curious what kind of food you are eating? I remember you trying to learn some things. So are you living off turkey burgers and spaghetti? It doesn't seem like that would be easy to cook when you are camped on the side of the road. Just curious...

Ok Mike,
You gotta post because I want to see your pictures! Besides, no one else in this family has taken an adventure like yours since before we were all born!!!!

I too want to know what you are eating? What do you do with your day?
